Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw Partner Jeff Sarles Co-Authors Winning Legal Strategies for Alternative Dispute Resolution

9 March, 2006, Chicago -- Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP partner Jeffrey Sarles has been selected by the editorial board of Inside the Minds as a leader in alternative dispute resolution and is one of the authors of the new book Winning Legal Strategies for Alternative Dispute Resolution: ADR Best Practices for Arbitration, Mediation, and Contract Resolution published by Aspatore Books

The book (ISBN: 1-59622-247-6) focuses on how to draft effective arbitration clauses and how to achieve success if dispute resolution becomes necessary. It also highlights the current and future state of mediation and arbitration and its increased use to avoid costly litigation.

According to Mr. Sarles, "My chapter is targeted at busy in-house counsel and executives who want a short and simple explanation of how to make alternative dispute resolution work for them. It's meant to be highly practical, consistent with other Inside the Minds publications."

Mr. Sarles is co-chair of the appellate and Supreme Court practice at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, and a member of Mayer, Brown's International Arbitration group. He has represented clients in numerous arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association, Center for Public Resources, International Chamber of Commerce, and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, involving such issues as post-closing purchase price adjustments, the propriety of international telecommunications charges, indemnification for a product recall, and investor claims against States under bilateral investment treaties. He is the author of numerous articles, including "The Confidentiality Conundrum in International Arbitration, which appeared in ADR and the Law (American Bar Association 2002).

Mr. Sarles is a 1994 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, where he was editor in chief of the Law Review. He has a B.A. from Wesleyan University, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.A. with high honors in history from the University of Chicago.
