The Bureau of National Affairs in Washington has recently published the Ninth Edition of SUPREME COURT PRACTICE, the treatise on practice before the Court written by Mayer Brown partners Stephen M. Shapiro, Kenneth S. Geller and Timothy S. Bishop and professors Eugene Gressman and Edward A. Hartnett. The Ninth Edition, which reflects the substantial changes to the Court's rules that became effective in October 2007, contains new suggestions for preparing effective petitions for certiorari, briefs in opposition to certiorari, and amicus briefs under the new rules. It also offers new insights and suggestions on preparation of merits briefs and techniques for presenting effective oral arguments. The Ninth Edition continues to offer detailed advice, reviewed and approved by the Clerk's office, on all of the jurisdictional and procedural rules that apply to cases litigated in the Supreme Court. The treatise may be ordered by telephone at 1-800-960-1220, and is available at a discount at www.bnabooks.com/scp. As a courtesy to the viewer, the following links will display the treatise's
